DETROIT – Ford Motor is rolling out Tesla Supercharging capabilities to owners of its electric vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The Detroit automaker was the first to announce a deal with Tesla to utilize the EV maker's Supercharger network. Under the deals, companies such as Ford will adopt Tesla's charging port for future EV models. In the meantime, an adapter is needed to connect non-Tesla vehicles, which utilize different charging technology, to Tesla's network. Tesla, which designed the adapter and is handling distribution of them to automakers, did not respond to request for comment on specifics.

Forget Tesla , the real competition in electric vehicles is low-cost Chinese automakers. Farley wants to be prepared even if the U.S. government were to step in to curtail Chinese automakers' access. Outlook Ford investors shouldn't be concerned in the short term since Chinese EV competitors won't enter the market overnight. To that end, a group of lawmakers has urged the White House to boost tariffs on Chinese vehicles and figure out a way to be "prepared to address the coming wave" of Chinese vehicles by way of U.S. other trading partners. The cost of production will become more efficient, resulting in a more competitive and hopefully profitable Ford EV product.

Tesla investor Gary Black attributed the weakness in Tesla shares to chipmaker Onsemi's (ON.O) bleak forecast. "ON sells to automotive players with over 50% share of global EV sales, including 4 of the top 5 China EV makers," he said in a post on social media platform X on Monday. loadingOnsemi CEO Hassane El-Khoury said the company's top European clients were working to clear their inventory and noted that the company sees "increasing risk to automotive demand due to high interest rates." It contracted to 17.9% between July and September from 25.1% a year earlier due the EV maker's rampant price cuts, which also triggered a price war in key markets such as China. Tesla was trading at about 56 times its 12-month forward earnings estimates, compared with 5.6 times for Ford and General Motors' 4.1, according to LSEG data.

Musk flagged overseas wars as worrying, and cautioned the economic situation could deteriorate. The world's richest man cautioned there's likely to be more fallout as higher rates, tighter lending, and declining asset values hit vulnerable sectors of the economy. Following the comments from top Fed officials on Monday, Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said the U.S. central bank does not need to raise interest rates any further, and that he sees no recession ahead. "Everybody has one eye on the Middle East conflict and one eye on what's happening with bond yields. The decline in bond yields is the key driver today," said John Praveen, managing director & co-chief investment officer at Paleo Leon. "If tensions escalate bond yields might decline further because they're a safe haven but equities would sell off in that instance because of increased uncertainty and risk aversion," he said. But the flight to safety has made Treasury yields fall enough to push up equities," Tuz said.
